In a busy July 24 village board session, Frankfort trustees voted to renew the village’s contract with Homewood Disposal for weekly waste and recycling services. Under terms of the new contract, residents will see their rates for service rise beginning in September. The current garbage disposal rate is $20.11 per month. That will go up to $21.72 per month on September 1, with more hikes in the following years, including: September 1, 2024, the rate will go up to $23.46 per month; September 2025 it increases to $24.39; in 2026 it will be raised to $25.37; and in 2027, the final year of the new contract, the rate increases to $26.39 a month.
In other action, the Frankfort Village Board approved a paving contract with Oak Lawn Blacktop Paving for improving an existing gravel area to an asphalt surface at the village’s police training facility at 524 Center Road. The cost of the work to the village will be $30,800. Frankfort officials said paving the area will provide a more suitable surface for training needs.
Frankfort trustees also approved an agreement to inspect the village’s water mains for leaks. The agreement with M.E. Simpson Co. calls for performing leak detection services on approximately 200 miles of watermain within the village’s water distribution system. The acoustic leak detection survey will locate sources of non-revenue water loss to help maximize peak performance in the village’s water distribution system. The agreement with Simpson will cost Frankfort $50,400.
