A contractor working Wednesday afternoon in a home in Orland Park fell down a 20 to 30 foot well that was in the building’s basement area.
He had to be rescued by firefighters with the Orland Fire Protection District.
It took about one hour to carefully lift the victim out of the well, said Fire Chief Michael Schofield.
The incident took place in a home at the 14300 block of Oakley Avenue around 2 p.m.
The contractor, who has not been identified, was in stable condition after his rescue, paramedics said.
