June 5, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a traffic stop for an illegal left turn led to the arrest of Camille Richmond, 20, of Ford Heights, for driving while suspended and no insurance. She was processed and bonded.

June 6, at approximately 4 p.m., a Monee-Manhattan Road traffic stop for expired plates led to the arrest of Michael Sommer Jr., 28, of Manhattan, for possession of a controlled substance. Sommer was in possession of narcotic pills without a prescription, was processed, and transported.

June 7, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers were investigating a traffic crash at Monee-Manhattan Road and Rt. 50. Aryn Noel, 22, of University Park, was cited for failure to yield, left turn. Both Noel and the other driver were treated for minor injuries.

June 7, at approximately 5:55 p.m., a Monee-Manhattan Road traffic stop for suspended plates led to the arrest of Lajuan Sanders, 29, of Matteson, for driving while suspended and no insurance. He was processed and bonded.

June 8, at approximately 9:11 p.m., Oronde Hardy, 49, of Monee, was charged with driving while suspended after a Monee-Manhattan Road traffic stop. He was processed and bonded.

June 9, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a young man sitting on a park bench looked very familiar to a passing MPD squad. Ten minutes later, Keetwon Montgomery, 29, of Monee, was on his way to Will County Detention. The officer remembered Montgomery had a couple of outstanding failure to appear warrants.

June 10, at approximately 6 p.m., a 15-year-old Monee resident thought it was a good idea to dress in all black with a black face mask, then enter a store on Monee-Manhattan Road and steal some vape supplies. Upon absconding with the stolen property, said juvenile also thought running fast in the same attire with a parking lot full of witnesses was also a good idea. The passing MPD officer didn’t think it was such a good idea, and the fleeing thief was taken into custody after realizing he wasn’t gonna’ outrun a black and white Ford Explorer. He was processed and turned over to his mother.

MPD took four reports for deceptive practices this week. All four involved someone accessing bank accounts and withdrawing funds or writing fraudulent checks on the account. Always take the time to check your accounts for suspicious activity and notify the bank ASAP!!
