For the May 2023 Local Business Spotlight, State Rep. Jackie Haas is honoring La Delicia in Kankakee. She presented a certificate of recognition from the House of Representatives to owners Jose and Isabel Rivera on Tuesday, May 30.
“A perfect business to recognize – as summer is just around the corner, La Delicia has tasty treats to delight all who grab ice cream from there,” said Rep. Haas. “I was delighted to recognize this local business and know it will be a welcome addition for Kankakee County families in the summer. Grab a scoop of ice cream or refreshment at La Delicia to beat the summer heat!”
La Delicia opened in July 2012 to bring fresh ice cream to the Kankakee area. It is owned by Jesus Rivera, Jose Rivera, and Isabel Rivera. In addition to serving ice cream, La Delicia serves fresh fruit, refreshments, and other snacks for customers to enjoy. Snacks include elotes, nachos, and chicarrones. For 2023, new refreshment flavors are passion fruit, cantaloupe, and tamarind aguas frescas.
