The Peotone Police Department released a statement on Thursday, May 4, regarding the retail theft at Peotone Tobacco and Liquor on April 20.

Two unknown offenders entered the store, stole a large quantity of alcohol, and fled the store to an awaiting vehicle. The total amount of alcohol stolen was more than $1,200. The detective division followed up on various leads and eventually located the offending vehicle. After executing a search warrant, the identity of one of the offenders was discovered.

On May 3, the Peotone Police Department took Cortez Blevins, 23, of Chicago Heights into custody. Blevins was charged with a Class 3 felony retail theft and was transported to the Will County Jail in Joliet. Judge set his bond at $7,500.

The detective division is currently working on identifying the second offender.
