On Wednesday, May 3, the Panther softball team traveled to face conference foe the Blue Devils, bringing home an 11-0 win.
According to Panther Coach Josh Carlile, “We got some good production up and down the lineup tonight. Combine that with a shutout, a two-hit performance from Alyssa Dralle, and we had a good night!
Macy Iwanus led the way at the plate. She was 4-for-4, with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Jaz Manau had a great night offensively also, recording a 3-for-3 night, including 2 doubles. Ava Paquette and Alyssa Dralle each added two hits, including Dralle’s double.
Dralle also was credited with the win. In addition to the shutout and only allowing 2 hits, she struck out 3, while allowing 2 free passes.
The next day, Thursday, May 4, the team again were on the road for a non-conference contest against Joliet Catholic. Despite the 9-8 loss, the game was close.
“That was a heck of a game,” said Coach Carlile. “The girls battled back to force extra innings against a very athletic Joliet Catholic.
“Kenzie Hespen hit everything on the screws tonight, recording three hits with 2 runs. Gabby Monterastelli added a 2-for-2 night, driving in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh, while Jaz Manau and Alyssa Dralle added 2 hits each.”
Ava Peterson was the tough luck losing pitcher after relieving Macy Iwanus.
Currently, the Panthers are 17-7 overall and 10-2 in ICE.
