Willow Springs village worker killed in motorcycle accident
By Bob Bong
A Willow Springs man who worked for the village was killed Friday night when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a car in Joliet.
Tyler Gallo, 20, died in the crash, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
In a news release, Joliet police said Gallo was heading north on Northeast Frontage Road near Pandola Avenue about 11 p.m. Friday when he struck the passenger side of a car turning east on Pandola from south on Northeast Frontage Road.
Police said there were four people in the car. Two female passengers were taken to an area hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 69-year-old man, and another man in the car were not injured.
Willow Springs Mayor Melissa Neddermeyer has ordered bunting to be hung and flags to be flown at half-staff in Gallo’s honor.
“Tyler was a valued member of our team who had a passion for serving the community and always went above and beyond to ensure that our streets and public spaces were safe and clean for everyone to enjoy. His dedication, hard work, and positive attitude will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends at the Village of Willow Springs. We extend our deepest condolences to Tyler’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. The impact that he has had on our community and the lives of those who knew him will not be forgotten,” Neddermeyer said in a statement.
Village Manager Ryan Grace said Gallo had worked for the village for a little more than a year.
Visitation for Gallo will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Lawn Funeral Home in Burbank. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the funeral home.
