Omar M. Hamoui, MD, has been named the new medical director of Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Heart and Vascular Institute and brings more than 20 years of personalized cardiology care experience and academic expertise to his new role.

Dr. Hamoui has led numerous academic initiatives locally, regionally, and internationally. He earned the Charles Fisch Teacher of the Year Award for Excellence and Dedication in Teaching at Indiana University and will apply his experienced background in higher education to provide leadership in the planning and development of research programs at the Heart and Vascular Institute.
Dr. Hamoui played a critical role in multiple medical trials and publications focused on his areas of medical interest, including general and interventional cardiology, antithrombotic agents, stroke prevention, congestive heart failure, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
