GENERAL QUESTIONS

Why did you decide to run for this position? My husband and I moved to Beecher in 2017 because of the outstanding rating that the schools had at the time. We have loved the teachers our boys have had at the elementary school and the close community we have found in Beecher. The last few years have shown a spotlight on how important the local school board is to its community. I have spoken out at several school board meetings on topics I felt passionate about. I have not only gotten my point across but done so respectfully. I feel that the only way to move forward is to listen to others while also offering my own viewpoint. I would like to continue to perpetuate the legacy of quality education in Beecher by working with the staff and administration.

What qualifications / experience do you feel you possess for this position? My husband and I have three children, 2 of whom are in school, the youngest has not started yet. I have been the Family Readiness Group leader for my husband’s Army Unit for the last 7 years, and have earned the Molly Pitcher award in 2013 for my work in the FRG while his previous unit was deployed to Afghanistan. I am also a small business owner and have been since 2017. Leading our company through the pandemic and shutdowns was not easy, but we have re-emerged on the other side more profitable than before.

What do you hope to accomplish? I would like to see our board come together as a cohesive unit and leave behind any political agendas or personal vendettas.

What do you see as issues that should be prioritized in the near future? 1. Reducing the financial gap in our budget; 2. Increasing ELA and math scores across the district

What would you like people to know about you? I am just a mom who wants to make a difference in my community. My children are paying attention, and I think it is important to show them how to be the change you want to see. My mom likes to say what our kids learn from us is more “caught not taught,” and I would like to show them why it is important to be involved in your community, especially when it is a cause that is as important as educating the next generation well.
