Why did you decide to run for trustee? I’ve lived in Beecher for nearly 25 years now and am raising my family here. I’ve reached a point where I’d like to be able to give back a bit to the community and help chart a path for the future that will make sure it continues to be a wonderful place to raise a family.
Have you held public office before? I have 2 and ½ years experience as a Village of Beecher Trustee as well as a short time spent on the local Planning and Zoning Commission before that as well.
What is your background? I’ve lived in Beecher since 1999 and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in 2007. I’ve worked at CSL Behring in Bradley since 2007 holding positions in manufacturing, quality, engineering, and regulatory affairs.
What community involvement, organization, affiliations, or club memberships do you have? I’ve previously volunteered with the Beecher Lions Club, volunteered my time with the Beecher Mausoleum, a local historical site, am an avid supporter and volunteer with the Beecher Youth Commission and an annual member of our local Walk to End Alzheimers.
What characteristics, qualifications, or experience do you feel you possess to be a trustee? My recent 2 and a ½ years experience as a currently serving trustee have well-prepared me for continuing in this role as I’ve gained a broad experience in local governance and police and public works matters. My time at CSL Behring has challenged me in my ways and I’ve gained broad experience in communication, managing large projects and budgets, and working within regulated industries, all skills very applicable to serving as a village trustee.
How can the village board improve? The current village board in Beecher is doing an excellent job but there’s always room to improve. Finding ways to spur increased community engagement with local government could help spark new ideas and increased participation in community organizations and volunteering.
What are important issues you’d like to address and how will you address them? A key item is planning for infrastructure improvements throughout the community such as watermain replacement and streets. In addition to current revenues the village needs to be very active in applying for grants to help complete high cost but critical projects like these.
What are some improvements you’d like to see happen in Beecher? Replacement of aging infrastructure and further investment in the local park system.
Anything else important you’d like people to know? As a village trustee I will always do my best to make the best possible decision for our community and it’s residents and will welcome community feedback.
