Argo High School’s welding program was one of the best during an annual competition earlier this month at Moraine Valley Community College.
The competition took place on February 10 with four schools competing.
Welding students from Argo, Stagg High School, Joliet Central High School, and Evergreen Park High School participated.
This was the sixth year the competition was held.
Argo finished first and second in the advanced division, Joliet Central and Evergreen Park finished first and second in the introductory division.
Evergreen Park High School also had a student finish in first along with Argo as a collaborative team.
Argo’s Rember Palma-Madrid took first-place and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Nathaniel Allen and John Olvera were second-place winners and received welding gear.
The students that competed were John Olvera, Jacob Chruszczyk, Adrian Fijas, Nathaniel Allen, Miguel Castillo, Nicholas Polchan, Diego Diaz, Rember Palma-Madrid, and Anthony Marquez.
