On Saturday, February 18, the Peotone Blue Devils were victorious in a quarterfinal contest over visiting Herscher, 57-45. Herscher, up 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, also was ahead 22-20 at the end of the half. But in the third quarter, the Blue Devils simply outscored the Tigers, 17-6, and that proved to be the difference in the game.
On the day, Miles Heflin led the team, including a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Wil Graffeo added 12 points in the victory, while Brandon Weiss finished with 8. Aiding in the win, the Blue Devils were alive at the free throw line, going 21 for 27.
Peotone’s current record is 16-14. The Blue Devils are to play Beecher on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., in Momence.
