A Conversation with Ryan Martin of Crete Area Historical Society: Join us in-person, on Sunday, February 26, at 2:30 p.m., in Ryan Hall at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, for an informal talk with Ryan Martin, president of the Crete Area Historical Society. Ryan will tell us how his Society, which purchased the former Main Street Antiques Building on Exchange Street in Crete. The building was once the Congregational Church, and Ryan will share the church’s importance to the Underground Railroad in the Southland. After the program attendees may visit the Valentine’s Day exhibit in the museum.
Hall of Fame 2023: The Historical Society knows who the nominees are, but the nominees are just finding out. Watch for an announcement soon in the next mailing or on the Society’s Facebook pages for names of those to be inducted. The Hall of Fame Ceremony will be in-person at Freedom Hall, on April 16, at 3 p.m.
“Step Back into a 1950s Valentine’s Day” will be on display at the Museum through March 8. The Museum always tells the story of life in Park Forest during the town’s first five years, 1948-1953, as well as how Park Forest began. Museum hours are Wednesday and Saturday, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., or at other times by appointment. Call (708-481-4252) or Facebook message if the weather looks iffy.
