The Manteno Main Event results are in.

 

The Show Choir competition was held at Manteno High School February 10-11. 

 

The results of the Middle School competition include two grand championship wins by El Paso-Gridley Junior High School. The groups won both the mixed division and unisex division. 

 

This left both groups from Northridge Middle School coming in at 1st runner up. 

 

On Saturday, the competition for the prep division was tight. 

 

Herscher High School’s “Class Act,” came in first place, but they tied with the Watseka “Sensations” for best vocals. 

 

In second place were the “Cavaliers” from Crete Monee High School. They also received several caption awards including best choreographer, best male soloist, and best female soloist. 

 

Second runner-up went  to the Watseka Sensations. This group also won best vocals and received the award for best band.

 

Kankakee High School “Take Note,” received third runner-up, fourth runner-up went to “Vocal Rush” from Unity High School, and Peotone Powerhouse placed 5th runner up. 

 

The results from the Open division included a clean sweep by Wheaton North “Flight.” They won Grand Champions, best choreography, best vocals, best band, and best female soloist in a show went to Holly Wiper. 

 

  • First runner-up: El Paso-Gridley High School “Modulations”
  • Second runner-up: John Hersey High School “OnStage”
  • Third runner-up: El Paso Gridley High School “Hi Fidelity”
  • Fourth runner-up: Pekin Community High School “Noteables”

 

Each group receives a trophy recognizing an individual that the judges believe to be the “best performer.”

 

The competition happens annually, and will return again in February 2024.
