The new Kankakee Metro Centre transfer station will be open for use beginning Sunday, February 12! Located on Chestnut, between Schuyler and Dearborn, this beautiful new facility incorporates design elements from Downtown Kankakee’s Streetscape Plan. Built with the comfort and safety of riders as a priority, the Kankakee Metro Centre will serve the citizens of Kankakee County for decades to come. An official ribbon cutting event will be held at a later date.
River Valley Metro Mass Transit District serves the urbanized area of Kankakee County, with more than 300 bus stops on 11 routes, enabling residents of the Kankakee County area to attend school, go to work, keep appointments, and visit friends. It also provides commuter bus service to Midway Airport from Bourbonnais and Manteno.
Additionally, Metro Plus provides bus service, by appointment, for those who meet ADA eligibility requirements.
