Alice Ann Franklin, 91, of Kankakee, passed away at her home on January 28, 2023. Born on June 23, 1931, in Chicago, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Gates) Carlson. Alice married Kenneth Franklin in Joliet on June 16, 1961, and shared 56 years together until he preceded her in death on July 29, 2017.

Alice worked as a dietician at St. Mary’s Hospital for five years and then for the Bradley School District for 25 years until she retired. She enjoyed keeping busy and loved working at Fannie May. For many years, she was also a volunteer at the Veteran’s Home in Manteno, until very recently. Alice was a member of the Moose, American Legion, and was a past president of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word puzzles, and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with and adored all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Alice also was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Alice is survived by her children, Mike Lubben of Crescent City, Ruth (Bill) Lubben-West of Bradley, Dave (Mary) Franklin of Crown Point, Indiana, Debra (Dave) Franklin-Hanson of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Jill (Ray Padvoiskis) Franklin-Randles of Bourbonnais; grandchildren, Amy O’Hara, Bill West Jr., Curry Franklin, Hannah Franklin, Scarlett Franklin, Jenna Bodie, Andrea Hanson, Colin Hanson, Madyson Randles, and Mallory Randles; great-grandchildren, Erika Smith, Kayli O’Hara, T.J. O’Hara, Abbey Tryban, and Jiovanni Randles; great-great-grandchildren, Damien and Tate Smith, Natalie and Oliver Tryban, and Coen and Ruby O’Hara. She also is survived by dear friend Sandy Britt of Bradley, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, parents, and a grandson, Tommy Pranskus.
