January 3, between 4:30 and 9 a.m., officers took reports of eight motor vehicle burglaries in the Amazon lot. Around 4:30 a.m., video shows a subject breaking car windows and rifling through them. Investigators are following up on the video leads. Between December 27 and January 3, a total of 20 cars suffered damage and/or theft from their vehicles in the Amazon lot.
January 4, at approximately 5:45 p.m., a Sauk Village woman reported being shot at on I-57, just north of Monee-Manhattan Road, by two male blacks driving a grey Ford. She stated she was behind the vehicle on Monee-Manhattan Road after leaving Amazon and turned on to the expressway. The vehicle was traveling well under the posted speed limit, so she passed them. They then sped up, firing several shots at her vehicle before fleeing the area. No one was injured, and the ISP is taking the lead in the Investigation.
January 6, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a traffic stop ended with James Dorich, 24, of Joliet, being arrested for a failure to appear warrant from Will County. He was secured and transported.
January 6, at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers were investigating a trespass complaint and possible narcotics activity in the 5700 block of W. Monee-Manhattan Road. During the course of the investigation, officers spoke with a business employee from the plaza area and identified him as Eric J. Brown, 37, of Monee. Brown was found to have two warrants for his arrest and was wanted for failure to appear in Orland Park and theft in Will County. He was secured and processed.
January 7, shortly after midnight, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 6600 block of Monee-Manhattan Road, for expired and suspended registration. The driver, Ky’Jaan Ervins, 21, of Jackson Tennessee, was unable to prove he ever had a driver’s license or insurance. He was secured and processed.
January 7, at approximately 1 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Monee-Manhattan Road, for expired and suspended registration. The driver, Sydney Howard, 23, of Dubuque, Iowa, was charged with driving while suspended. Her passenger took responsibility for the plates, stating he was the owner of the vehicle. He was cited accordingly for the traffic violation and then found to be wanted in Will County for failure to appear. Anton Jackson, 25, of Milwaukee, was secured and processed.
January 10, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a crash scene on Monee-Manhattan Road at Ridgeland. Officers cited Rance E. Surratt, 21, of Matteson, for following too closely, after he struck another vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The other driver, Helen Holloway, 35, of Chicago, was unable to show proof of insurance and also was cited. Both drivers refused medical treatment.
January 10, at approximately 5 a.m., officers responded to a crash scene on Monee-Manhattan Road, just east of Ridgeland. Officers cited Kristopher Buchanan, 40, of Monee, for improper left turn, after he struck another vehicle approaching the intersection. He was cited and released. Both drivers refused medical treatment.
January 11, at approximately 6 a.m., officers responded to a crash scene on Monee-Manhattan Road, at the Amazon entrance. Maria Hawkins, 20, of Lynwood, was cited for failure to yield left turn, after she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Both drivers refused medical.
January 13, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Dakari Smith, 23, of Chicago Heights, was arrested for driving while suspended, no insurance, and driving with a suspended registration.
January 14, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers took a stolen auto report from a Bruns Road business. The owner reported the truck missing after his driver couldn’t recall where he left it. A GPS locate put the truck in Joliet. Monee officers reached out to Joliet PD, and those officers were kind enough to hook it for the owner. The truck driver still is sorting things out for the report…
January 14, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers clocked a vehicle in excess of 60-mph in a 35-mph zone along Monee-Manhattan Road. The driver, Carlana Lymon, 18, of North Judson, Indiana, was cited for the speed, no insurance, suspended registration, and no driver’s license. She was processed and released.
