The Orland Grassland Volunteers will celebrate the winter brush clearing season with their annual Brats N’ Burn event on Saturday, January 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.

After clearing small shrubs and small trees, they will be burning large brush piles to remove the debris.  While they are clearing, the brats will be sizzling on the brush pile, green peppers and onions will be steaming, foil-wrapped potatoes and perhaps sweet apples will be tossed in the hot coals.

Brush clearing is recommended for children at least 8 years old and all minors must be accompanied by a parent.

This is for families, students, friends, singles, groups, anyone who loves a good physical workout in nature. Guidance and tools are provided.  Dress for the weather, hats and gloves are suggested.  Wear shoes appropriate for walking in natural terrain.

Meet up is at Orland Grassland’s Old Farm Road Trail entrance on the west side of the site at Old 175th Street and 104th Avenue.  Parking is across the street in the subdivisions.

Please RSVP if you would like to participate so adequate food and supplies can be on hand. Replies can be made by calling Marnie Baker at 708-942-8038 or emailing marnie.baker@gmail.com.
