Ammar Najjar

From staff reports

A Chicago Ridge man was charged earlier this month with one count of forgery stemming from an incident that happened in October.

Ammar Najjar, 45, was charged January 4 with a felony count of forgery, Palos Heights police said.

Palos Heights police took the original report on October 21 from a resident who left his debit card in an ATM in the 6300 block of 135th Street.

The resident found multiple fraudulent charges on his debit account.  After obtaining video from the store where the card was lost, and then also from the stores where fraudulent purchases were made, the suspect was identified as Najjar.

Najjar was arrested and gave a full confession to the crimes, police said.

The case was presented to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Office, and due to the victim’s age and the crime, a felony count of aggravated identity theft was approved.

He was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse and was released after posting bond.
