Crete Area Chamber of Commerce held their meeting on December 14, with six members present.

Items discussed after routine business were:

  • Membership currently is at 75; Discussed renewal applications be emailed in January, then mailed in February.
  • Possibility of finding a new coordinator for Crete Farmers Market.
  • No mugs were sold at Crete Country Christmas, as had a distributor issue getting mugs to the event on time.
  • Crawl-o-Ween was a huge success; Discussed lowering next year’s price, plus adding a “trolly-type” system to help people get from one place to another; This year’s date is October 28.
  • Discussed possibility of new residents, including addition of Crete Township residents, picking up their welcome bags; Would bring people downtown.
  • Candidate Forum for school board and village board candidates on February 21 and 22; No location set.
  • Village News – Starbucks is opened; Village bought property to develop on the corner of Main and Exchange.
  • Discussed possible change in by-laws, reducing board of directors to five instead of nine.
  • Next business lunch January 25, at noon, with no location set.
