Walter W. “Bud” Hultsch Jr., 78, of Bourbonnais, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at his home, peacefully surrounded by his family. Born June 1, 1944, in Chicago, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Ruth Leubscher Hultsch. Bud married Kathleen DenDekker on September 4, 1965, in Chicago.
He loved being an architect and was a partner in JH2B Architecture, as well as a former partner in Johnston Hultsch Architecture. Bud was involved in many community projects over the years, was a fan of U of I sports, plus was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed woodworking and liked being outside, taking walks, and working in the yard. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren. Bud was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Hultsch of Bourbonnais; son, Scott (Frances) Hultsch of Naperville; daughters, Kristine Trost of Joliet and Susan (Paul) Parks of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren, Alex, Nicole, Amber, Jessica, Oskar, and Lochlan. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carole McNicholas.
A funeral service was held on January 9, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, with cremation rites accorded following the services. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
