December 27, at approximately 8:30 a.m., officers on routine patrol discovered a pile of discarded mail. The mail mostly was unopened and found to be for various Monee addresses, including Egyptian Trail, Chestnut, and Rt. 50. It appears someone is stealing the mail, looking through it for valuable items, and then dumping it in the Cleveland Drive area. If you see any suspicious activity near or around a neighbor’s mailbox, please contact MPD.
December 28, at approximately 12:25 p.m., officers stopped to check on a suspicious vehicle in the Firestone Drive area. The occupant had chosen that area to have a few beers, while enjoying some music. His location choice earned him an illegal transportation of alcohol citation, as well as a ticket for never having a driver’s license. Javier Ramirez-Rodriguez, 48, of Monee, was processed and released after passing a field sobriety test.
December 28, at approximately 10 p.m., officers were called to the Red Roof Inn for a disturbance call. After clearing up the disagreement over car possession, officers found one of the involved parties had an outstanding warrant for cannabis possession in LaSalle County. Emily Rae Sanchez, 30, of Mendota, was secured and processed.
December 29, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers handled a traffic crash at Monee-Manhattan Road, just past Cleveland. Upon arrival, a Bourbonnais man stated his vehicle was struck while merging, and the other driver left the scene. Before leaving, the other driver threatened the Bourbonnais resident and claimed to have a gun. Officers have preliminarily identified the Monee resident who made the threats, but are still attempting to locate him. Investigations is following up.
December 29, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers arrested Malyk Hannah, 20, of Monee, for theft. Hannah was charged after Amazon Loss Prevention caught him stealing Apple products. He was secured and transported.
December 30, at approximately 9 a.m., officers took a report of 10 motor vehicle burglaries in the Amazon lot. At around 4:30 a.m., video shows a subject breaking car windows and rifling through them. Investigators are following up on the video leads.
December 31, at approximately 8:20 a.m., officers took a report for three stolen catalytic converters from vehicles parked in the 6300 block of Bruns Road. Investigations is following up.
