Donald J. Schafroth, 88, of Momence, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, at his home. Born December 21, 1934, in Cabery, he was the son of Fredrick and Bertha (Landrigan) Schafroth.
Donald married Carol Fritz on November 3, 1956, in Herscher. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1998. Donald married Doloris Pazel on October 21, 2000, and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2005. Donald married his surviving wife, Deloris Holman on June 26, 2010.
Donald owned Campbell’s Pumping until his retirement. After retirement, he loved to spend time on his houseboat, located on Kentucky Lake. He also was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris Schafroth of Momence; one son, Steven (Diane) Schafroth of Limestone; daughters, Linda Larrigan of Elmendorf, Texas, and Mary (Steve) Marion of Limestone; daughter-in-law, Heather Kyle of Owensboro, Kentucky; stepson, Kenneth (Crystal) Holman of Braidwood; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to first two wives, Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Schafroth; brothers, Wayne Schafroth and Paul Schafroth; and sisters, Jeanette Rita Steele and Evelyn Riedel.
A funeral service was held on January 6, at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee, with Rev. Dan Belanger officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cabery.
