Cheryl Anne “Cheri” Virgin, 68, of Chesterfield, Missouri, passed away December 7, 2022, in Chesterfield. Born August 14, 1954, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Andrew and Arlene (Hoover) Doris. Cheryl married Robert Virgin on July 21, 1973, at Aroma Park United Methodist Church in Aroma Park.

She was a cashier at Schnucks. Cheryl loved jigsaw puzzles, fishing, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and softball. As a teenager, she had a 0.922 season batting average with 47 hits in 51 at bats, including 18 home runs, and hit five home runs and three grand slams in one game. Cheryl, known for her kindness, loved laughing and joking, and her laughter was contagious, as well as her trademark. Most of all, Cheryl loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, and grand dogs. She was the cornerstone of her family.

Surviving are her husband, Robert of Chesterfield, Missouri; son, Chris (Stefanie) Virgin of Chesterfield; daughter, Gail (Mark) Doehring of Dunlap; grandchildren, Matthew, Dylan, and Olivia Virgin, and Audrey and Katelyn Doehring; sister, Carolyn (Harmon) Davis of Bourbonnais; brothers, Richard (Joyce) Doris of Decatur and David (Spencer) Doris of Rancho Mirage, California; sister-in-law, Janet Doris of Paris; and many nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service was held on January 7, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee. Pastor Seth Major, of Reachway Church, Peoria, officiated the memorial service. Please sign her guestbook at schrefflerfuneralhomes.com.
