Thirteenth Ward Ald. Marty Quinn is holding his monthly meeting for senior citizens at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18. If you read this in time and would like to attend, you must call Barb at (773) 581-1313 to let her know you’ll be there. Feel free to bring a friend. The meeting will be held at ward headquarters, located in the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, 6500 S. Pulaski. Thank you, Alderman Quinn, for giving seniors an opportunity to voice their concerns and to learn about what’s going on in our neighborhood.
The Balzekas Museum is a busy place. In addition to the community meetings, exhibits, a gift shop and classes, there are opera and concert video performance events coming up. In 2023 there will be Saturday concerts. Here’s some dates to save. On Jan. 14 the museum will present a performance of “Encore” featuring Arnold Voketaitus. Two operas are scheduled for 2023. On Jan. 28 the opera “Barber of Seville” and on Feb. 11 the opera Don Quichotte. On Feb. 25 the Verdi Requiem will be presented. I will share a reminder closer to the concert dates. For more information call the museum at (773) 582-6500 or visit balzekasmuseum.org.
The next CAPS meeting for Beats 813 and 833 will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at West Lawn Park, at 4233 W. 65th St.

Here’s a business opportunity. The fast-food restaurant Bigg’s At the Bridge, 6659 S. Cicero, is looking for a new owner. Bigg’s is a terrific hot dog/hamburger spot with a walk-up window for foot traffic and a good size parking lot as well.
I saw a sign on the side of the building that said “turnkey business for sale.” One of my neighbors saw it when she was driving by. She thought it said “turkey business.” Biggs is a move-in ready business with brand new appliances.
At the moment, it is closed for the season. Its owner has posted on social media that he plans to reopen in the spring, but the new restaurant is for sale.
I have eaten at Biggs. I had a cheeseburger. They put the cheese on top and underneath the burger, which is thick and juicy and served on a really good bun. My hubby had an Italian beef sandwich. We had the french-fried onion rings. These rings were made from thick slices of onion and were coated with a crunchy crust. There are so many items on the menu. Steak sandwiches, steak tacos, Philly steaks, breakfast burritos, fried chicken wraps, BLTs, gyros, salads, chili and soups, just to name a few. Their homemade mini donuts are served warm.
I was told that all their recipes will be included with the business, so that their great menu items will remain the same. I also know that Bigg’s gets their meat and rolls from the best food companies.
Tommy, the owner, is super friendly. Call (773) 315-1300 if you are interested, according to the sign on the building.
