Mary Rose Alvarez (nee Heredia), 84, of Chicago’s Clearing community, passed away September 18.

Beloved wife of the late Pedro; loving mother of Lydia (Phyllis Parker) Trujillo, Rosemary (late Daniel) Kurczodyna, Consuelo (Marcelino Cervantes) Alvarez and Teresa (Dennis) Prieto; much loved grandmother of Sylvia (Juve) Ortega, Patricia (Jose Luis) Arteaga, Marcos (Alma) Trujillo, Pedro (Jamie) Torres, Victoria (Jason) Domnanovich, Michael (Sheena) Alvarez and Samantha Alvarez; dear great grandmother of Bianca, Brian, Michelle, Isabel, Ethan, Aria, Jackson, Lucas and Elias; great great grandmother of Luciana. Mary Rose was preceded in death by her 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Visitation was September 22 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Funeral services were September 23 from the funeral home to Two Holy Martyrs Parish, St. Symphorosa Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Raymond Arevalo Sr, lifetime member of the Brighton Park community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family September 8.

He worked in the meat packing industry for over 50 years before retiring.

Raymond is proceeded in death by his loving wife the late Grace (nee Versetto). Raymond is survived by his children Joseph (late Laura), Ramona (late Russ) Markham, late Raymond Jr. (late Nina), Robert (Pamella), Collette (Robert) Sergen, Patricia (Peter) Morales and Esther (Mario) Vega. Raymond is also survived by his sister Carmen-Janet (Oscar) Villagomez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Dominga Arevalo, his sisters Mary, Virginia, Esther and brothers Jesse and Rudy. Raymond was a grandfather and great-grandfather to many and known to all his grandchildren as Pa.

Robert M. Biel, 67, passed away September 7.

Beloved husband of the late Eileen Vaughan-Biel; cherished son of the late Frances (nee Janish) and the late Eric Biel; dear brother of Martha (Wayne) Beeck and the late David Biel; loving uncle of Danielle Beeck (Keith Chavet). Also survived by relatives and friends.

Laura A. Carolan, 43, of Riverside, passed away September 16.

She was the beloved wife of Patrick; loving mother of Michael; cherished daughter of Christine and the late Joseph Malek; wonderful sister of Joseph (Melinda) Malek; adored daughter-in-law of Terry and Ann Carolan; dear sister-in-law of Mary Beth (Jason) Canty and Cecilia Carolan.; much loved aunt to Emily and Jospeh Jr. Malek, Elizabeth Carolan and Octavia and Josie Canty. She will be dearly missed by her aunt Maria Moskalik and her cousin Ada (Moskalik) Valaveris.

Visitation was September 23 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Visitation was September 24 at St. Mary’s Church, 126 Herrick Road, Riverside for mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

CHARLES CHESLOE

Charles Chesloe, 63, of Willow Springs, passed away September 4.

He was the son of the late Charles J. Chesloe and Geraldine J. Chesloe. He is survived by his brother, James M. Chesloe, and sister, Nancy A. Van Fleet (Chesloe); nieces and nephews Harrison, Grant and Stephanie Chesloe and Julia Van Fleet. Charley helped run Willow Swim Club all his life, working alongside Caroline Chesloe (grandma), Charley and Gerry Chesloe and his siblings.

Services have been held. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Willowbrook. 

GossageLUCILLE GOSSAGE

Lucille V. Gossage, nee Brabenec, 97, passed away September 22.

She was the beloved wife of the late Lee Gossage. Loving mother of George (Deborah) Gossage, Robert (Terri) Gossage and Gale Ford. Cherished grandmother of Jeff (Kristina) Gossage, David (Cheri) Gossage, Matthew (Abby-Anna) Gossage, Mandie Gossage, Mollie Gossage, Gina (Justin) Becker and Rachel Fabino. Dearest great-grandmother of 15. Dear sister of the late Leo, George, Alice, Mary, Joanne and Adolph. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was a resident of Palos Park for 37 years.

Lucille graduated from Gage Park High School in 1942 and immediately went on to complete her nurse’s training at Presbyterian St. Luke’s in Chicago.

After staying home to raise her family, she started working on a Medical/Surgical floor at the newly built Palos Community Hospital in 1976 and retired from there in 1994. She followed that by volunteering at the hospital for the next 12 years.

She and Lee were very active youth leaders at their churches for many years. Lucille enjoyed sewing, knitting, sailing with Lee and was lucky enough to do quite a bit of travel around the world.

Visitation was Wednesday, September 28, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Service was  September 29 at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Avenue (155th/Wheeler Dr. and Harlem) Orland Park. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn.

Susan Kirk (nee Stoltenberg), age 87, of Brookfield, passed away September 18.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Kirk; fond mother of Allan (Linda) Aurrichio and Anthony (Vita) Aurrichio II; stepmother of Gail Kirk and the late John Kirk; dear grandmother of A.J. Aurrichio, Timothy Aurrichio, Anthony Aurrichio III and Amy Aurrichio; great-grandmother of Julia Aurrichio and Vita Bella Aurrichio; dear sister of Karen Pennavaria, Bob Stoltenberg, the late Alice M. Murphy, Ruth Vantil, James Stoltenberg and Donny Stoltenberg.

Memorial gathering was held September 22 at Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 9445 W. 31st Street, Brookfield. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Stanislaw Komperda, 66, of Chicago Ridge and formerly of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, passed away September 17.

Beloved husband of Danuta (nee Strama); loving father of Krzysztof (fiancée Jolanta Stawiarska) and Jakub Komperda; devoted son of the late Helena (nee Bukowska) and late Stanislaw Komperda; dear brother of Jan Komperda and Zofia (Andrzej) Komperda; fond son-in-law of Maria and late Jan Strama; also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held September 22 at Zarzycki Manor Chapels Ltd., 5088 S. Archer Ave., Chicago. Funeral was September 23 from the funeral home to the Church of St. Bruno for Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Loving father of Kevin, Kristen and Kyle; dear brother of Bob (Linda) Lisek; beloved son of the late Eugene J. and the late Janet T. Lisek; former husband of Gail Lisek.

Urbanczyk, Marcia (Michael) Kowalski and Joseph (Mae) Urbanczyk; much loved grandmother of Lauren (Timothy) Pearson, Renee (Eric) Edgcomb, Stephen (Cierra) Urbanczyk, John (Jillian) Kowalski, Julie (fiancé Adam Ross) Kowalski, Adam (Aisha Joyner) Kowalski, Alex Kowalski, Jessica Urbanczyk, Emily Urbanczyk and Joey Urbanczyk; proud great grandmother of Audrey, Lillian, Jane and Grace Pearson, Anna, Isabel, Eric and Elise Edgcomb, Miriam, Gus, Roman, Vera and Linus Urbanczyk, Julia and Josephine Kowalski; dear sister of Lucille Kobylarczyk and was preceded in death by her other brothers and sisters. She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy Wozniak, 77, of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community passed away peacefully at home September 17.

He was the beloved husband of Iris (nee Novak); loving grandfather of Olivia Wozniak and Grace Wozniak. LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, Lee S. Wozniak C.P.D. and his daughter-in-law Jacklyn (nee Lamb) Wozniak; dear brother of Jeri (Joseph) Szymusiak and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation was September 24 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. in Summit. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
