McCarthy named permanent police chief in Willow Springs

Former Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy was sworn in last week as the new permanent police chief in Willow Springs.
McCarthy, who has been serving as acting police chief since April, was sworn in by Bob Sprinkle, longtime resident and chairman of the Willow Springs Police Commission.
He served as Chicago’s top cop from 2011 to 2015.
In other action, after approving payables and committee reports, action was taken on several items.
A resolution was passed authorizing participation in the ComEd Green Region Program for the Legacy Park Pollinator Project.
The village administrator was given the okay to purchase a generator for the lift station located at Village Town Center, in an amount not to exceed $18,000.00 from Buckeye Power Sales.
The current generator is 22 years old, and needs replacement.
Action was taken to approve the 2022 sanitary sewer cleaning, televising, and smoke testing project with Duke’s Root Control in Elgin in an amount of $67,505.00.
The next village board meeting will take place on September 22.
