Fire damages Orland Park Row House
From staff reports
A fire that started on the back patio of a row house located at 146th Street and Morningside Road in Orland Park spread to the home and injured one resident on Saturday.
The Orland Fire Protection District said that the fire was reported just before midnight July 30 and quickly spread to the attic of the residence.
The fire could easily have spread to the other attached row houses but was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Fire crews quickly cleared the home of residents and the fire was contained to the one unit.
“Firefighters acted quickly to extinguish this fire savings lives,” Fire Chief Michael Schofield said.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time,” he added.
One resident of the property was transported by paramedics to the hospital suffering from minor burns after he tried to extinguish the fire on his own.
The Orland Fire Protection District was assisted by Palos, North Palos and Tinley Park fire departments.
