SD122 scholarship applications due May 6
Applications are now being accepted for the Ridgeland School District 122 PTA Council Higher Education Scholarship. Interested graduating high school seniors that attended a Ridgeland 122 School – Columbus Manor, Kolb, Harnew, Lieb and Simmons – for at least five years, have a 2.5 or greater GPA, and plan to attend an accredited institute of higher education may apply.
Applications are available in each of the Ridgeland school offices and at the Dist. 122 Administrative Center, 6500 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. An application can also be found in the counselors’ office at the local high schools. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on May 6.
SD108 to hold special ed services meeting
On Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m., Willow Springs School District 108 will conduct a meeting at Willow Springs School, 8345 Archer Ave., to discuss the district’s plans for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private school or home-school within the district for the 2022-2023 school year.
If you are a parent of a private or home-schooled student and you reside in District 108, you are urged to attend this meeting.

Summit wants to hear from residents
The Village of Summit is looking to get input from its residents on a variety of issues.
Summit, in partnership with Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and the Illinois Housing Development Authority, is undertaking a Community Needs Assessment survey as a part of the Homes for a Changing Region process.
This survey looks at various issues within the village, and the results help plan future projects.
The questions are about housing, employment, education, retail, recreation, transportation, etc. It even goes as far as asking about how residents feel about lighting, and how one gets their information about events.
The village is inviting all residents to take part in this planning process by completing a Community Needs Assessment Survey, to provide valuable information about their experiences living in Summit.
The survey is completely anonymous and does not collect any identifying information. You should be able to complete it in under 10 minutes. The link to the English survey is https://arcg.is/fHbif . The link the Spanish survey, is https://arcg.is/1STe81 .
Justice Senior Club seeks new members
The Justice Senior Club would like to invite all seniors, 55 plus to join. The club is open to all surrounding communities.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month at noon. Meetings are held in the Justice Community Room, 7800 S. Archer Road, located behind the fire department.
Membership is $7 per year and $3 for each meeting. Members play Bingo each meeting and other games.
There is a catered hot lunch the fourth Tuesday every month for $5 per meal, and other holiday parties.
Club President is Ray Hodson, treasurer is Hank Oszakiewski, secretary is Kathy Svoboda, membership chair is Doreen O’Brien, bingo caller is Rich Pawlak, and food coordinator is Jan Lancaste.
Parking is available right behind the building.
St. Patricia Queen of Hearts Raffle
St. Patricia Parish announced its Queen of Hearts 50/50 Raffle 2.0 is being hosted by Prime Time Restaurant in Hickory Hills.
Tickets are on sale and can be purchased Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. at Prime Time. Ticket pricing is 6 for $5, 12 for $10, 24 for $20.
Tickets will also be available for purchase in the Gathering Space at St. Patricia Church after all Masses and in the Rectory, Monday-Fridays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. located at 9050 S. 86th Avenue in Hickory Hills.

Sunday services at The Center
The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park, is holding a 12:30 p.m. Vespers service in the Wayside Chapel and an 8:30 a.m. service in the Lodge.

Cook County, CEDA announce low-income household water assistance program
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County announced a new program to assist low-income residents with water utility bills.
Funded with dollars provided by the American Rescue Plan Act, the Low-income Household Water Assistance Program provides funds to assist low-income households with water and wastewater bills.
LIHWAP provides up to $1,500 for reconnection assistance, disconnection prevention, past-due balances, disconnection fees, and late fees. Both homeowners and renters can access the program to ease financial stress caused by water bills. The goal of the program is to help families avoid arrearages and late fees, prevent disconnection when possible and restore services in case of disconnection.
CEDA is accepting applications year-round for LIHWAP. To qualify, families must be income-eligible and live in Cook County. They also must be disconnected, facing disconnection, or have a past-due balance of at least $250. Families can call CEDA or visit a partner in-take site to check eligibility.
