Electric violinist Mark Wood coming to Argo

Legendary electric violinist Mark Wood is coming to Argo High School.
He will perform in concert with the Argo and Wilkins Junior High Orchestras on May 2, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the Portillo Performing Arts Center at the Summit school.
Wood has quite the background. He was an original member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and has played alongside musical artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Celine Dion, Kanye West and Billy Joel.
In an industry where originality is a highly prized commodity, recording artist, performer, producer, inventor, Emmy award-winning composer, and music education advocate Wood is truly an original.
He’s spent the past four decades electrifying the orchestra industry, and has been dubbed “The Eddie Van Halen of the Violin World” by PBS.
Wood is a successful solo artist, writes and records original music for film and television, has released seven solo albums, and tours with his band The Mark Wood Experience, which features his wife and partner, vocalist Laura Kaye.
He will perform at Argo, as his true passion is music education.
According to Woods’ website, “We seek to awaken student musicians to their highest potential, opening them up to the adventure of music. Imagine a 15-year-old rushing to music class because they can’t wait to play or sing. Imagine an energized concert hall buzzing with anticipation for music played by these students.”
