Hi neighbors! Today is Chocolate Covered Nuts Day. Celebrate wisely. I suggest a trip to Villa’s Nuts and Candy, 4635 W. 63rd St. They have scrumptious chocolate-covered everything and so much more. Call them for information on days and hours at (773) 581-8313.
There is a lot happening at St. Nicholas of Tolentine School, 3741 W. 62nd St. The school’s Tiger Tots group will have its next event on Friday, Feb. 25 at 9:30 a.m. This arts and crafts and music event is open to all parents and their kids ages 5 and under. Call the office to register at (773) 735-0772. Sorry about this late notice. I hope the school can give us more notice in the future.

St. Nick’s recently celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The school began with a family Mass and open house. During the week there were school tours and fun activities for the students focused on the theme, “We Are Wild About Learning.” There were animal-related arts and crafts, a virtual trip to the zoo and a project to raise money for the American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 6200 S. Lawndale, will host a free concert presented by the Chicago arts group Artopia on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m. Classical guitarist An Tran will perform.
The Calvary Lutheran Church Senior Club will be having a St. Patrick’s luncheon at noon Tuesday, March 15 at 6149 S. Kenneth. If you would like to join the fun, please call Elaine at (773) 424-3031 to place your sandwich order for either turkey or corned beef.
Calvary Senior Club member Pat Nielson recently shared a tip on getting your address book in order. She told me to save the return address labels from letters and cards that you receive from friends and family. Glue the labels in your address book, instead of writing in the names. The labels are easier to read than our own handwriting and don’t seem to get smeared or faded like ink does. Good tip, Pat!
The West Lawn Branch Library, 4020 W. 63rd St., will present a bilingual preschool story time on Thursday, March 3 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. On Saturday, March 5 the library will show the movie Encanto. This family movie will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and end at 4 p.m. On Wednesday, March 9 the library will have a family fun craft night from 6 to 7 p.m. All of these events require registration. Call the library at (312) 747-7381.
Do you have extra Legos blocks or yoga mats you no longer need? The library could always use those. You can drop them off at the front desk.
