Clearing carjacker/kidnapper still at large
Senior citizen forced into her own car, loses $1,200

More than three weeks after an elderly woman was carjacked and kidnapped in Clearing, police have not made an arrest in the case.
The crime occurred at about 4 p.m. on New Year’s Day. A 75-year-old Clearing woman was clearing snow off her car in the 7000 block of West 63rd Street when a man walking west down a nearby sidewalk walked up and pushed her into the car’s back seat.

The carjacker then got in the driver’s seat and drove away east, steering with one hand and holding the victim’s wrist with the other.
As they drove, he apparently threatened the woman and forced her to say she banked at Marquette Bank. The carjacker/kidnapper then drove to the Marquette branch at 6316 S. Western, where he used her ATM card to withdraw more than $1,200.
The offender then drive the victim to about 69th and Claremont, where he got out and walked away, leaving the victim free to drive home, where she called 911.
Police did not offer a description of the offender.
