2 killed in Worth bar shooting

Worth Mayor Mary Werner confirmed Monday afternoon that two people were shot and killed and a third wounded in a shooting early this morning at the Crossing Bar and Grill, 6959 W. 111th St. in Worth.
Werner said the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force was assisting Worth police with the investigation.
“It’s an active investigation,” she said adding,”It was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the general community.”
Werner said it had been many years since there had been a shooting in the village.
Police have not released the names of the two victims who were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they were pronounced deceased.
Werner said the third victim had been treated and released from the hospital.
“Investigators have, and still are pursuing numerous leads in this tragic incident. Based on the investigation thus far, this was an isolated incident between two separate parties known to each other. There is no threat to the public,” Police Chief Tim Denton said in an email.
