Rebecca Mallios was born on December 7, 1949, in the village of Manaris, Greece. It is with profound sorrow that we announce her peaceful passing on February 20, 2026, following a brief illness faced with extraordinary courage and strength.
She was the cherished daughter of the late Dimitrios and Vasiliki Voutiritsas. Rebecca spent her early years in Greece before moving to Port Huron, Michigan, where she completed high school and graduated from cosmetology school. At just 24 years old, she founded and successfully operated Becky’s Beauty Salon, reflecting her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her craft.
Rebecca later devoted more than three decades of service as secretary at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Justice, Illinois. She became a beloved and familiar presence within the church community. Passionate about her heritage, she also taught Greek language classes at various churches and at Lewis University, sharing her knowledge and love of Greek culture with generations of students.
She was the adored wife of the late Chris Mallios and a loving mother to Nick, Jim, and Jenelle (Yianni) Gialousakis. Her greatest joy was her grandson, Peter Gialousakis, whom she cherished deeply.
Rebecca is also survived by her siblings Tom (Mary) Voutiritsas, Nick (Cindy) Voutiritsas, and Kostas (Tasia) Voutiritsas, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Her Orthodox faith guided her life and was evident in her kindness, generosity, and peaceful spirit. She found joy in cooking and gardening, expressing her love through the meals she prepared and the beauty she cultivated. Rebecca will be remembered as funny, loving, strong in faith, and endlessly devoted to her family and church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rebecca Mallios may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois, with a 7:00 PM Trisagion Service.
Funeral visitation will take place Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 10:30 AM until the time of Service at 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 7560 S. Archer Road, Justice, Illinois.
Interment will follow at Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
