A Manhattan man is facing 14 felony counts of unauthorized video recording of adults and children following a New Year’s Eve party at his home.

Manhattan police arrested Jonathan Wisniewski, 44, of the 24400 block of Arrowhead Drive in the White Feather subdivision, following what Manhattan Police Chief Ryan Gulli called a “complex investigation.”

Manhattan Police Detective Jeff Studlow was assigned to the case after a party-goer alerted police to what they suspected was a camera hidden in the bathroom at the event and filed a police report.

Less than a week after the January 1 police report was filed, police executed a search warrant at Wisniewski’s home and obtained additional evidence on January 6.

“He’s done a commendable job building the case, properly executing the warrant and taking the offender into custody,” Gulli said of Studlow’s work on the case.

Gulli said the month-long investigation was extensive, involving more than 100 hours of police work and a review of video evidence, which led to the February 4 arrest.

“It takes time to build a case, and we have to follow due process,” Gulli added, acknowledging the painstaking efforts and time it took to build the case that led to Wisniewski’s arrest

Will County court records show the felonious charges Wisniewski faces include unlawfully videotaping the body parts or undergarments of minors and adults.

“Technology is playing a key role in how we police in 2026. We’re going to protect our residents, especially our kids and the vulnerable,” Gulli said.

Wisniewski had no prior criminal history, though court records show an emergency order of protection was filed and granted on January 6, with an emergency order to suspend parenting time filed on January 27.

Court records also show Wisniewski is being represented by Attorney David of the Law Offices of Rotunno and Giralamo, the law firm that notably defended Hollywood producer and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein.

Although Wisniewski was brought to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for a hearing due to the nature of the investigation and the charges filed, he was released in accordance with the SAFE-T Act.

“We take every allegation seriously and will continue to do so to keep Manhattan one of the safest places to raise your family,” Gulli said. He urged anyone who believes they may be a victim of similar crimes, or who has additional information related to this investigation, to contact the Manhattan Police Department at 815-478-3226.
