Two Oak Lawn siblings were killed Thursday in what the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled as a murder-suicide.
Oak Lawn police said they were sent to a home in the 10000 block of South Maple Avenue at noon on Jan. 22 to conduct a well-being check.
A healthcare worker had attempted to make contact with the residents inside the home and requested police assistance after being unable to reach anyone.
Police forced entry into the home and officers discovered two elderly siblings deceased with apparent gunshot wounds to the head. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Friday afternoon the medical examiner’s office ruled the deaths were a murder-suicide.
Their identities and genders have not yet been released.
No further information was available.
