Eugene S. Griggs, age 80, a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away peacefully.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia Griggs (nee Supis) and a loving father of Michael (Maureen), David and Kevin (Devon) Griggs. Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Emily, Ethan, Synobia, David II, Lorianna, Arden, Kaitlyn and Hailey Griggs. Dear brother of the late George and Diane Griggs. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews and a kind brother-in-law of Shirley (Patrick) Higgins and the late Richard Supis and Dorothy Kloss.
Eugene dedicated his life to service. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and later worked as a Federal Agent. He was an active member of Cardinal Mundelein Knights of Columbus and previously served his community as a Teamster, Cub Scout Master, coach and Eucharistic Minister. His commitment to faith, family and service left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home, followed by procession to Our Lady of St. Germaine Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment will take place at St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery.
Eugene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his dedication, kindness and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
