The lights have gone out at a small veterinary clinic that for decades was a trusted source of care for pets and peace of mind for their owners.

Justice Animal Clinic, located at 8501 S. Roberts Road, has permanently closed following the death of its longtime veterinarian, Dr. Young Kang, who passed away in October 2025. The closure became widely known through social media posts late last year, where former clients shared memories and expressed sorrow over the loss of both the clinic and the people behind it.

Under Dr. Kang’s leadership, Justice Animal Clinic built a reputation for compassionate, no-nonsense veterinary care. The practice focused on animal health and well-being, offering routine exams, treatments and access to an associated pharmacy. Clients often praised the knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices and the sense that pets were treated like family rather than appointments on a schedule.

News of Dr. Kang’s passing prompted an outpouring of tributes online. Many pet owners recalled years, and in some cases generations, of animals cared for by the same veterinarian and staff. Several described Dr. Kang as patient, gentle and deeply committed to his work, qualities they said were reflected throughout the clinic.

While the practice did not issue a formal closure announcement, social media posts made clear that the clinic would not continue operating after Dr. Kang’s death. The building at 8501 S. Roberts Road is no longer active as a veterinary office.

For former clients, the closure means finding new veterinary care in the area. Nearby options include clinics in surrounding suburbs, such as Countryside Veterinary Center, among others. Pet owners seeking past medical records may be able to access them through third-party platforms like Great Pet Care if they previously created accounts.

Though Justice Animal Clinic is no longer serving the community, its impact remains. For many families in Justice and neighboring towns, the clinic represented more than a business. It was a place of trust during anxious moments, routine visits and final goodbyes, a legacy closely tied to the life and work of Dr. Young Kang.
