South suburban families are invited to explore local services, enjoy family-friendly activities and build community connections at the inaugural Southland Family Resource Fair on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Worth Park District, 11500 S. Beloit Ave., and is designed to connect families with a wide range of programs, services and supports available throughout the Southland.
Organizers say the fair will feature community resources focused on health, education, entertainment, finance, youth activities, hometown tradesmen and more. Families will have the chance to meet local service providers, learn about programs offered in their communities and discover new tools to support their households.
Children will have plenty to do, with interactive stations, face painting and games planned throughout the morning. Photo opportunities with popular children’s characters are also scheduled, making the event both informative and entertaining for families.
Hope Enrichment Center will be among the participating organizations, offering information about mental health support and therapy services. Staff members will be available to answer questions and share resources related to anxiety, trauma, life transitions and holistic, evidence-based mental health care.
The fair is intended to be a welcoming space for families whether they are seeking specific resources or simply looking to enjoy a morning out together. Organizers emphasize the event’s focus on celebrating strong families and neighborhoods while making it easier for residents to connect with local partners.
