Jozef Pezdek passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Chicago on December 24, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on September 26, 1950, in Jabłonka, Poland. His journey carried him from his homeland to Chicago, where he built a life defined by dedication to family, warmth, and generosity.
Beloved son of the late Maria and the late Jozef Pezdek. Loving husband of Małgorzata Pezdek. Devoted father of Jolanta (Ryan) Tague, Renata (Wojciech) Szaflarski, the late Roman Pezdek, and Piotr Pezdek. Proud grandfather of Jessica Pezdek, Damian Szaflarski, Patricia Szaflarski, Nathan Tague, and Olivia Tague. Cherished great-grandfather of Camilka Szaflarski.
Jozef’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his spirit lives on through the love he shared and the family he nurtured. From the village of Jabłonka to the community he embraced in Chicago, his life reflected perseverance, devotion, and the enduring strength of family bonds. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois.
Funeral services will take place Monday, December 29, 2025, at 8:45 AM with Prayers and Procession beginning from the funeral home to Saint Faustina Kowalska Church, 5255 S. McVicker Ave., Chicago, Illinois, for a 10:00 AM Mass.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
