An East Hazel Crest man was arrested for possession of a weapon after he was stopped for a violation and a loaded handgun was found, police said.

Terry J. Taylor, 24, of the 1800 block of 172nd Street, East Hazel Crest, was arrested after police found a loaded handgun underneath the front driver’s seat when he was stopped at 9:36 a.m. December 11 in the 11800 block South Harlem Avenue, police said.

Police said his vehicle was stopped for having a suspended registration when a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and a loaded handgun was found underneath the front driver’s seat. Taylor possessed a valid FOID but no concealed carry license.

He was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, suspended registration, and having no insurance.

He appeared at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Dec. 12 and was released pending trial.
