Getting drunk and passing out is never a good idea. But if you’re going to do it, you might want to do it in the comfort of your own home where you’re not going to hurt anyone – except maybe yourself.
You certainly don’t want to pass out in your car in a school parking lot on a day when school is in session and kids are in class.
Tell that to Edgar Castillo-Flores, (no age given) of the 9800 block of West 144th Street, Orland Park, who was found passed out behind the wheel of his car around noon on December 9 in the parking lot of St. Michael School, 14355 Highland Avenue, police said.
Police said Castillo-Flores was found slumped over in the front seat toward the door, key in the ignition and the car in park. Car doors were unlocked.
An open Icehouse beer can was in the center console and a sealed Icehouse beer can was on the front passenger seat. Police tried knocking on the car window but Castillo-Flores would not wake up.
Police then opened the unlocked door where they said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol inside the vehicle. When he finally awoke, Castillo-Flores told police he didn’t have his driver’s license with him.
He was charged with DUI and driving with no insurance, police said.
