Tawepong “Lek” Chutipisalkul peacefully passed away on December 6, 2025, in Skokie, Illinois. He was born on August 22, 1945, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lek’s early life was shaped by hardship and perseverance. Growing up in poverty, he learned resilience and determination from his mother, who sold yams to support the family. He married his beloved wife in Bangkok, and with $1,000 gifted by their wedding guests, the couple immigrated to the United States with two suitcases and a dream for a better life.

After arriving in the U.S., Lek faced further challenges, including the loss of his mother. Despite these hardships, he pursued education and earned a Master’s degree in Accounting from Illinois State University. He worked in various accounting roles, including positions at Northwestern Hospital and Bell & Howell, and devoted his free time to golf, especially with the Thai Golf Association.

Lek is survived by his children: Marisa (Scott) Mann, Derek (Nicole) Chutipisalkul, and Cathy (Sean) Curran, and by seven grandchildren. Though his life was marked by complexity and challenges, his sacrifices contributed to the opportunities available to his family today.

In honoring his life and legacy, donations may be made to Nunchi Health (https://www.nunchihealth.org/support-nunchi) to support Asian mental wellness or to Wat Dhammaram, reflecting his connection to faith and community.

Visitation: Monday, December 15, 2025, 1:00–2:00 PM at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois, followed by a Buddhist Chant Service.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
