Kolecki

We celebrate the life of Steven Michael Kolecki, aged 66, who passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was the loving father of Michael (Nicole), John (Kristin), and the late Jacqueline, and the proud grandfather of Clark and Patrick. Steven was the dearest brother of Danny and the late Chester, and was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Eleanor Kolecki.

Steven dedicated much of his life to his family, coaching his sons’ endless baseball and football games while still finding time to help others. He served as a Chicago Firefighter for over 30 years, retiring as a respected Lieutenant on Truck 49, where he fought fires alongside some of his closest friends. His service and camaraderie on the job were a source of immense pride.

Family was always at the heart of Steven’s life. He shared his love generously with nieces Raegan, Sara, and Danielle, nephews Craig, Jake, and Keith, sisters-in-law Cathy and Darryl, countless cousins, friends, and neighbors. He loved gathering loved ones together, whether cooking for holidays, hosting pool parties, or sharing stories. Steven’s joy for life extended to sports, and he never missed an opportunity to talk about his unwavering fandom of the Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks, and Hawkeyes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem). A Service in Celebration of Steven’s Life will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Per his wishes, Steven will be cremated, with his cremains to be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Park Lawn School.
