On Wednesday, November 12, the Manhattan Police Department arrested 25-year-old Jacob J. Jarvis, of the 500 block of W. North Street, for Child Pornography.

In September 2024, Manhattan Police Officers, assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, received information from the Hastings, Nebraska, Police Department regarding a Manhattan resident, who was downloading child pornography through an online mobile application.

During the investigation, the offender, Jacob J. Jarvis, was identified as the suspect and user of the mobile application. In August 2025, the Manhattan Police Department executed a search warrant, with assistance from the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. Manhattan Police took possession of Jarvis’s electronic device, which contained evidence of the offense of child pornography.

Jarvis was taken into custody and charged with six counts of child pornography (Class 2 Felony). Jarvis was transferred to Will County Adult Detention Facility to appear for a pre-trial detention hearing.
