Do you have something sitting on a shelf that needs fixing but you’re just not sure how to do it? You’re in luck this Saturday as Township of Lyons Clerk Elyse Hoffenberg is holding another Repair Cafe, and this time, it’s in partnership with Palos Hills Ald. Artur Krasowski and Ald. Donna O’Connell.
Join them at the Township of Lyons, 6404 Joliet Road in Countryside, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with small appliances, lamps, costume jewelry, sewing repairs (3 garments max), and knives that need sharpening (3 blades max), and have that taken care of for free.
Hoffenberg started this monthly program as a way to help people fix their treasures or everyday items rather than have to discard or spend money on something new.
It’s all about community coming together.
Volunteers who are skilled in fixing various things lend their time to help those who need it on a first come, first serve basis. No RSVP is necessary.
If you don’t make it on Saturday, September 20, the last Repair Cafe of 2025 will be held on Saturday, October 18.
