On Friday, September 5, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Manteno Police Department received a call in reference to shots fired. The incident occurred in the area of the 100 block of E. Second Street. Responding officers spoke with witnesses, who reported hearing multiple gunshots and a vehicle leaving the area.
Multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene. An involved vehicle was later located in the 200 block of Stadium Drive in Bourbonnais. Social media sites have mentioned that the bar in the area could have been the source of the gunfire, however this is inaccurate. The incident appears to be a directed action and not a random act.
Local hospitals were checked for any possible victims, with negative results.
