One man was shot by a sheriff’s police deputy after stabbing two women Monday afternoon in an apartment building in unincorporated LaGrange Highlands, police said.
A Cook County Sheriff’s Police officer responded to a domestic violence call about 5:30 p.m. in an apartment building in the 6400 block of Joliet Road, across the street from the former Ettleson Hyundai’s Used Car Superstore, the sheriff’s office said in a statement released Monday night.
Upon arrival, the officer encountered a man holding a woman at knife point who was visibly bleeding. A second woman was lying motionless and bleeding on the floor.
The man began stabbing the victim he was holding again, at which time the officer fired one shot, striking the man.
Both female victims and the man were transported by Pleasantview Fire District ambulances to local hospitals. Their conditions are unknown at this time. Witnesses at the scene said at least one of the victims “looked lifeless” as they were brought out of the building.
None of the victims were identified at the scene. The police officer involved was also not identified.
