A 23-year-old man who told Justice police he was “just trying to get home quickly” was charged after hitting 91 mph in a 35-mph zone, according to police.
An officer on patrol spotted the man speeding north on Roberts Road from 75th Street around 12:47 p.m. on May 24, police said. The officer clocked him at 73 mph and gave chase.
As the man turned east on 71st Street, his speed rose to 86 mph and peaked at 91 mph, police said. The speed limit in that area is also 35 mph.
Police pulled the driver over in the 7200 block of Octavia Avenue. He was charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the posted limit, disobeying a stop sign and driving without insurance.
