More than $4,500 was stolen from the Jewel-Osco store in Countryside by two women whom police said hid merchandise under their jackets.

One of the women, Alessandra Vaduva, 26, of Schaumburg, was arrested on Feb. 6 by police in Hoffman Estates, according to the Countryside Police, a few days after the heist.

She has been charged with felony retail theft, Countryside Police Chief Paul Klimek said.

In an email on March 6, Klimek said the crime was reported by Jewel Loss Prevention because they were aware of Vaduva committing similar thefts in the area.

She and another woman allegedly entered the Jewel in Countryside a few days earlier.

They “concealed large amounts of cosmetic products under their jackets and left the store without paying for them,” Klimek wrote in an email.

When interviewed by Hoffman Estates police, Vaduva identified herself in still images taken from the Jewel surveillance video and admitted her role in the crime, Klimek wrote.

The total value of stolen items was $4,672, police said.
